Pre-assigned AWB (Air Waybill) generation refers to the process where a set of AWB numbers is fetched from the carrier partner’s system and stored in advance within Clickpost’s system. When an order is created, Clickpost picks an AWB from this pre-stored series and includes it in the courier request payload along with other order details.
Once received, the courier is expected to:
Map the passed order information to the AWB, and
Successfully generate the shipment and corresponding shipping label.
Mechanisms on how we maintain and update the Pre-Assign AWB series.
Different courier partners support different mechanisms for pre-assigned AWB handling. Below are the common approaches:
Manual Upload via Dashboard:
The brand can download a list of AWB numbers from the courier partner's panel.
These can then be uploaded directly to the Clickpost dashboard for use.
Auto-Fetch via Courier API:
Some couriers (e.g., Xpressbees) provide dedicated APIs to fetch AWB series.
Clickpost has integrated with such APIs, enabling automatic fetching of new AWBs once the current batch is exhausted.
Range-Based Fetch Logic:
A few couriers (e.g., Ekart Logistics) provide a starting and ending AWB number.
Clickpost implements logic to fetch “X” AWBs in a batch and keep refreshing the available series based on usage.
Auto-Fetch Frequency
For couriers that support API-based AWB fetching, Clickpost runs a scheduled job every 2 hours to:
Check if the AWB Threshold has reached.
Fetch and update the series automatically if needed.
